Katie lives, works, and raises her family in District 82. She will strive to improve the quality of life here for all of us.
Katie is the mom of three young children. Her kids are active in community and school-sponsored activities as well as in local sports, music, and outdoor recreation.
Her family co-owns a small business in District 82 that employs 120 phenomenal people.
Since 2009 Katie has served as the volunteer Market Manager for the Cheat Lake Farmers Market, which is dedicated to supporting local agriculture. Several of the market’s vendors farm within a mile or two of the market location, and all of the market’s vendors farm within fifty miles of Cheat Lake.
Through a local nonprofit that she co-founded, Katie helps nurse injured wild birds back to health and conducts educational presentations about birds and wildlife in her community and beyond.
Katie coaches youth and adult softball teams, and she is committed to getting kids involved in healthy outdoor activities.
Katie has taught writing at West Virginia University, Virginia Tech, West Virginia Wesleyan College, and Chatham University, and she has degrees in writing and literature from West Virginia University (MFA) and Penn State (BA).
